Postcard from Lebanon

The Lebanese love the water. Might explain what brought us to Michigan.

Can you smell the roses and herbs? It was so aromatic, I hope it wafts in for you.

Hallab pastry shop. Need I say more?

Beirut beckons.

    Beautiful pictures, thanks.

When in France for a wedding years ago there was an inlet filled with about 50 boats, when the tide went out all the boats ended up sitting on the muddy inlet bottom. Some of those boats looked as bad as the one above, better tell him to keep those oars handy and get a life jacket :)

On that same trip my wife and I were driving around, mostly lost in the country, and stumbled across a square in the middle of a small town that featured a pastry shop. She said when trying to pick out which pastries to buy “lets each get two (of two different types) and we can share”. Well we did, mine was fair, her’s looked better so I said “lets swap”. She said “no this is too good” and ate both of the items she bought. It was her son’s wedding we attended, a US Navy submariner that had met a girl in Brest, France.

Maureen, be careful of who you share pastry with!
    best, Jerry

Beirut now goes on my list of places to go.
You have painted a very lovely picture of the city.
As I recall, it was once considered more beautiful than Paris.
    Is it?
    xo
