Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. ~ Mark Twain

  1. Hi Maureen!

It has been so so long! My aunt, Jeanne Barr, has just raved about your site so I am finally here and have signed up for your beautiful monthly postings.

From what I gather, you have moved to Northern Michigan and are at peace with life!

Your website is just delightful and brings back so many memories of Northern MI… I spent 10 days at Torch Lake last summer and hope to be back again this summer.

Thank you for sharing such beautiful thoughts, pictures, recipes, etc…it’s truly a breath of fresh air!

    Best to you… Stacy

    1. Stacy, how great to hear from you!! I’ve been keeping tabs on you through Jeanne and hope everything is going great with baby et al. Jeanne was incredibly welcoming and kind to me when I was in San Francisco. Thank you for reading, commenting, and for joining me here online–it will be so nice knowing you are here. Northern Michigan sure means a lot to all of us who’ve spent time here, doesn’t it? Keep in touch!!

      1. I’m sorry we never connected while you were in San Francisco; the experience must have been wonderfully enriching! I absolutely love to cook and once upon a time thought about culinary school! My time spent in Italy most definitely sparked my love for food and culture.
Will look forward to receiving all your lovely tidbits… maybe we could see you this summer while we’re in Northern MI!
        Cheers ~ S

  2. My Goddaughter, I’m so proud of your writings. You have a great talent; keep it coming. Denise is here with me, but leaving today. I’ll check in again when Susan comes to visit this weekend (I am computer illiterate, sadly). Always looking for Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies! Affectionately, Aunt Pat

    1. Aunt Pat, my beloved Godmother, how wonderful to hear from you here!!! You are the best cookie baker of all time, so I will be curious to know what you think of these. Miss you and love you so much, and delighted to connect with you here! Enjoy that precious time with your precious daughters. Love to Uncle Ted.

  3. How I love this, Maureen. A perfect injection of inspiration in the middle of winter. I can’t wait for our annual trip Up North this summer. Always one of the highlights of my year.

And catch the the winds of destiny
    Wherever they drive the boat.”

    Happy weekend, Maureen.
