April is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land, mixing memory and desire, stirring dull roots with spring rains. ~T.S. Eliot

(Spring rain drops from the green awning at home on Main Street, mixing memory and desire and stirring up all kinds of things–especially thoughts of the very special Aunt Hilda, who left us a year ago today.)

  1. It does seem like 1 yr. since Aunt Hilda has been gone, but i know she is watching over all of us. We continue to love you Aunt Hilda.

  2. Actually Maureen I feel for you. My aunty helped raise us and has had a strong presence in our lives. Mind you now later in life , I miss my grand mothers who raised us in lebanon and by the time we returned to lebanon they had passed away. As you get older you appreciate their efforts

  3. Maureen, special aunties are like our 2nd mothers, I share your sorrow, and, thank you for the beautiful Eliot quote.
    Blessings always,
    Diane

  4. May Aunt Hilda rest in peace and may you feel her loving spirit when you are in the kitchen, cousin. I hope we can enjoy a visit with you and Peg and Aunt Mary this summer; perhaps we can plan to sit on the big porch with our big dark sunglasses on, as we tip a toast to Hilda and the lessons of life and love that we have learned.
