New Year’s Eve has become an exciting day around here … last year, Dan took me to the Christmas tree on Main Street in Harbor Springs and proposed (I said: absolutely yes!). This year, we’re toasting to celebrate the upcoming publication of Rose Water & Orange Blossoms: Fresh and Classic Recipes from My Lebanese Kitchen. Such a thrill!
After the last few months of editing and designing and editing some more, this special—and if I do say so myself!—gorgeous book is off to the printer! That means the book is available now for you to pre-order, right here:
By ordering your book now you reserve your copies, and you will be among the very first to receive yours hot off the presses when the book is released by my publisher, Running Press, in April.
Like getting married to Dan, this moment is the fulfillment of so many lifelong dreams. Those dreams began to take shape when, after experiencing some tough times personally, I left my job in Chicago to head to culinary school in San Francisco a few short years ago. After learning the art of French technique (and soaking up the beauty of that great city by the bay), I headed back to live in Michigan, where I grew up in summers on the shores of another beautiful bay, Little Traverse Bay. Here I launched the (award-winning!) Rose Water & Orange Blossoms blog and dove deep on all things Lebanese cuisine, the wonderful food and culture I grew up on in my great big Lebanese family.
So many of you who love our food and family ways have asked me if I would be writing a Lebanese cookbook, one you could turn to for the recipes of our Sittis but one that would also speak to our contemporary sensibility. My answer was always Yes! I can’t wait to write that book! In fact, I may well already be writing that book, right here on my blog.
Rose Water & Orange Blossoms pages are filled with mouthwatering fresh and heritage recipes, truly spectacular photos, and the kinds of stories we have come to share so personally and specially here on the blog. The early reviews of the book have been just humblingly kind, and I can’t wait to share them on the book’s back cover (you’ll see sir Anthony Bourdain’s front and center!). It’s a book I hope you will feel as proud to own and share as I do.
Thank you so very much, as always, for your incredible encouragement and support! May your New Year be filled with deliciousness and love!
