All spring as I was out promoting the Rose Water & Orange Blossoms cookbook, I was waiting for this moment. That’s not to say it hasn’t been a total pleasure to share my book with the world! But as anyone who has had even a glimpse of summer in northern Michigan knows, this place is the cherry on top that makes the sundae special.

I’m excited to be here now, and looking forward to book events over the next month. From Mackinac Island to Petoskey to Traverse City, I hope to see my Michigan friends and readers! Here’s the schedule:

Saturday, July 18 – Mackinac Island
Mackinac Public Library, 4 p.m. talk & signing  WITH TREATS!
*my thanks in advance to The Iroquois Hotel and The Grand Hotel!

Friday, July 24 – Petoskey
Lake Affect, 209 Howard Street
5:00-6:00 p.m. cocktail hour (oh yes!) & book signing

Thursday, July 30 – The Inn at Bay Harbor, just outside of Petoskey
5:30-6:30 p.m. DEMO!, cocktail, tasting & book signing, $15
RESERVATIONS, call Melissa at 231-439-4026
Also SEE THIS for more details! It’s going to be a great evening…

Saturday, August 8 – Traverse City
Horizon Books, 4 p.m. talk & signing

The book events have been absolutely delightful! Here’s a look at a few of them, which have taken place in Chicago, New York City, San Francisco and back in my great home state of Michigan–where last week, Stafford’s Pier in Harbor Springs with Between the Covers Bookshop hosted a grand Lebanese dinner event (sold out! more than 130 people came, ate, and smiled the evening away! Oh, and took home signed books!). I’m so humbly grateful to them and to all who are hosting me and this special book these months, and to all of you who are coming out to say hello! Thank you so very much!

  5. Lots of Lebanese in Mpls/St Paul, MN too. Any plans to come to MN? My Dad and I love your book! Bravo!

  6. Dear Maureen: I grow to admire more every time. The amount of work behind every one of these presentations must be simply paramount! It must be just like preparing a Lebanese wedding every time. Congratulations on the big success of your book: it is simply a jewel. I wish you GRANDES TRIUNFOS in each and every one of your events. It’s so good to see you so radiant and happy. You show them!!!

  7. Maureen:greetings! Had pre-0rdered your book from Amazon Last Nov or Dec. LOve,Love Love it!! We Irish Don’t have the classic cuisine some other ethic groups, so I adopted your cuisine as a teenager (more than 60yrs ago!). Being born in Ireland and having a beloved Mother who did not care to cook and busy with her Medical practice, I learned from our house-keeper. Grew up with a Lebanese friend and his Mom and especially Grandmother were wonderful cooks and teachers.

My question: will you be anywhere in Oakland County(Birmingham,Troy, Rochester Hills)? Can not make it to Traverse City.

Thanks for a wonderful masterpiece !!!!

    1. Hi Marykatherine–and thank you so very much for your kind words! I’m delighted you are an honorary Lebanese! I had an event in the Detroit area in the spring but will keep you posted if anything else is in the works.

  8. Hi Maureen! Do you have any events or book signings lined up for the metro Detroit area? There’s a large population of Lebanese in the area and we would love to meet you.

  9. And I know that Michigan is happy to have their Maureen back home!!!
Life is good, so very very good!

  10. Congratulations, Maureen! This past weekend’s Wall Street Journal mentioned your recipe for butter lettuce and walnut vinaigrette in its “Pro Tips for Achieving Salad Supremacy”!

My family saw you at Marcel’s in Glen Ellyn, IL, and we love your recipes. And yes, we now skin chickpeas for hummus. Fantastic!
